Which DB2 AS/400 Client to Use For ODBC Connection Tuning
When trying to tune the ODBC connection to DB2 AS/400 you may have some doubts regarding which DB2 Client to choose. According to the IBM documentation, you can use two tools to connect to DB2 AS/400:
- IBM iSeries Access for Windows client (Recommended Client)
- DB2 Connect tools
If you use one of the DB2 Connect tools for tuning the ODBC connection, you will need to have the appropriate license file, that will allow you to connect to DB2 AS 400 database. The license file is distributed as a part of DB2 Connect products, so the only way to obtain this license key file is to purchase one of the following DB2 Connect products:
- DB2 Connect Personal Edition
- DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition
- DB2 Connect Application Server Edition
- DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System z®
- DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i®
The relevant license file can be located on the DB2 Connect install image in the /db2/license directory.
