Ispirer Toolkit: Target Database Version
Our tool is developing by leaps and bounds. We closely monitor all new releases of the most popular databases and try to add all new features to the tool in a timely manner.
For example, let's take the MERGE statement - in the new release of PostgreSQL (version 15) MERGE support has been added. Immediately after the release, we changed the MERGE conversion for all popular sources. However, the new conversion logic will only work if the version of the tool is PG 15 or higher. For older versions, the conversion will be carried out as previously - using two statements INSERT and UPDATE.
Therefore, it is very important to indicate the version of the target database on the target selection page the results of conversion can greatly depend on this. Also, it is important to note that if you do not specify any version, then the conversion will occur according to the rules of the latest database release. If you do not specify the database version, the following situation may occur. With 14th version of your PG database, MERGE is converted as MERGE and the object will not be created due to an error that states that the MERGE statement does not exist.
