Ispirer Capabilities: PostgreSQL Migration
Free Trial
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
Symptoms
The error may occur during the import into a PostgreSQL database.
Causes
The problem may occur due to the following reasons:
- The Target database setting are incorrect.
- The psql.exe utility does not work or does not work correctly.
- The Connection to the Target database does not work.
- The file used during the import process is blocked by a suspended process.
Solutions
To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
- Check the settings on the Target Options page.
- Check that the psql.exe utility is working correctly. In case of problems, install a new version of psql.exe or install a free tool for working with PG - pgadmin. The directory with the installed files contains the psql.exe utility.
Default path, for example: C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Programs\pgAdmin 4\v7\runtime - this path should be specified as the bin directory on the Target Options page, and the conversion should be restarted:
- Check the Connection to the Database.
- Open Task Manager in Windows.
- Find all suspended psql.exe and parent Command Prompt processes if they are running.
- Terminate all these suspended processes if they are not needed.
