IBM DB2 z/OS (OS/390): ODBC Connection Tuning

Using DB2 Connect Personal Edition

To create ODBC connect to z/OS (OS/390), please fulfill the following steps:

1) Install “DB2 Connect Personal Edition” from IBM site.

2) Run the “Configuration Assistant” tool and choose “Add Database Using Wizard…” menu.

Then setup your settings to connect to DB2 z/OS (OS/390).

3) At the first step “Source”, we need to select “Manually configure a connection to a database”

4) At the next step “Protocol”, please choose TCP/IP

5) At the “TCP/IP” step provide host name or IP address, Service Name and port number and click “Next”

6) At the “Database” step, provide database name and alias and click “Next”

7) At the “Data Source” step, please check “Register this database for CLI/ODBC” and provide ODBC Connection name and click “Next”

8) At the “Node Options” tab, specify Operating System and click “Finish” button:

9) In the pop-up window, please specify “Test Connection” button:

10) Select “ODBC”, set up the credentials and click “Test Connection” button:

11) Thus, if all the credentials have been entered correctly you will see a message on the “Result” that says “ODBC Connection Tested Successfully”, the way it is shown on the screenshot:

If the connection failed, please check the details you have entered.

12) Then run SQLWays Wizard and select ODBC connection.
